Iris Circle Drawing Tool Amazon

  1. The Iris - buyer beware

I posted virtually this tool several weeks ago, having watched and been taken by a video by Adam Savage nigh The Iris, a circle-drawing tool, on YouTube: https://world wide web.youtube.com/watch?five=PVQF...2%eighty%99sTested

    https://www.makerscabinet.com/products/iris

Since receiving it, I must update my before mail service with a review to warn others against purchasing this tool. Customer support appears to be absent. Should something be faulty, you will not receive any assistance.

My society was filled and the Iris arrived speedily .... but it was not working - stuck fast in the open position. I emailed the visitor on three occasions over a period of two weeks (in one case from their ain website portal), and then far non received a reply. At this fourth dimension I have an expensive paperweight.

This is non a tool one can take apart, and clean out oneself (something is catching inside, I expect). If I tried to do this (and I am handy), it would never go dorsum together again. My recommendation at this fourth dimension would be to give this visitor a wide booth. I shall update this review if-and-when they go back to me and bargain with the trouble.

    Regards from Perth

    Derek

  2. That is distressing to hear.

Promise something happens to modify the result.

  3. I thought I seen this particular on a facebook or youtube advertizement.
I am very leery of all those advert's, lots of those items arecrap or very very cheap knockoffs / downright lies, not actually the item.
Recently facebook has been having a ad for a edge chamfering plane. They are showing a woodpecker tool with woods neb branding. Just when you click on the advert it's some no name visitor with a motion picture of the woods pecker tool.
Now in the last week, in the ad video they blur out both the woodpecker logo and the made in The states logo.

Another 1 was a ad for a giant RC gas powered monster truck (like 2ft alpine wit serious power) all aluminum construction, etc etc for 79. When you lot read the comments the people who actually boght it received a piddling tiny plastic rc truck.

Buyer beware of all youtube and Facebook ads.

  4. And Derek
Sad well-nigh your experience. Nada like waiting for a item to make it and then it's faulty. I find that no matter how many tools I take I'k e'er excited to get something knew and desire to utilise it immediately.

  5. Absolutely Michael. Worse than this, I posted about seeing this before I purchased it and, so shut the Christmas, I was concerned that others would be tempted to purchase one.

If I have a problem with a tool, I contact the manufacturer/Seller and explicate, and give them a chance to make information technology right. I would never get to a forum first. Good customer service will make me a fan again. I warned Makers Cabinet that I would exercise then if they failed to reply (subsequently discovering other similar reviews in the meantime).

  7. I would adventure Neville Cox has an ultrasonic bath.
This should exist right up his alley.

This machinery was one time commonplace in camera lenses and notorious for hydrolock.

Thanks John. None of the representatives of the visitor provide an electronic mail accost. Their website provides a contact form, which I tried, and I as well had their email address from the receip, which I tried twice.

  14. I have their pencil sharpener, I hope it works well. If that is broken, it is more likely that I can set it than the iris, withal. I hope it works well given that information technology looks like they accept no customer service at the moment.
